A free composting workshop wil be held in the Pastoral Centre, Church Road, Nenagh, on Saturday, October 1, from 10am to 1pm. The speaker will be Nuala Madigan, education officer, Irish Peatlands Conservation Council.
The are many reasons why people should compost, among them: food and yard waste can be put in a composter, rather than going to the landfill in a plastic bag; soil that is produced is rich in nutrients for your yard, it can be put right on to your grass, garden, or flower beds;it is also much cheaper to make your own compost than to go to the garden store and buy it; the soil is a natural fertilizer, and can remove the need to use chemical fertilizers; it is safer for the environment, and can save you money.
The workshop is eing organised by North Tipp County Council, Nenagh Community Allotments and the Irish Peatland Conservation Council.
