Mary Immaculate College is committed to the provision of educational opportunities for mature students and has proved to be hugely successful in attracting mature learners from all walks of life over the past number of years. According to Prof. Peadar Cremin, President of MIC, “Mary Immaculate College prides itself on its commitment to mature learners, to Lifelong Learning and to widening participation in education. This commitment lies at the heart of our mission statement whereby we seek to foster the development of students within a supportive and challenging environment, to promote equity in society and to provide an environment where all have freedom and opportunity to achieve their full potential. We welcome the diversity which mature students bring to the College community in terms of background, educational attainment, employment history and motivation to study.” He attributes the College’s success in recruiting mature students to its suite of adult education access programmes, its provision of alternative access routes to third level education, as well as to the support systems tailored to mature students at MIC.

The many supports available to mature students include the Access Office, Counselling Service, Learner Support Unit, Medical Services and Student Parent Coordinator to name but a few. Mary Immaculate College’s new state-of-the-art campus makes it the ideal place to take the leap of faith and return to college.
