Gardai make three drugs arrests in Roscrea and Nenagh

The Gardai made two further arrests in Roscrea this week for possession of drugs, and also arrested a youth in Nenagh following a drugs find.

One youth was arrested at Tullaskeagh, Roscrea, on September 25, and was found to have E200 worth of cannabis herb in his possession. The second man was arrested at Main Street, Roscrea, on September 27 and had E400 worth of cocaine; E50 worth of LSD and E50 worth of amphetamines. The man had been under Garda surveillance.

Meanwhile in Nenagh, one youth was arrested after he was stopped at John’s Lane after he was spotted by the gardai throwing a package away. The package is believed to have contained 16 tablets, possibly Xanex. Two other youths were arrested for obstructing the gardai.

The gardai in Nenagh also also investigating five burglaries in Roscrea and Nenagh, including one in which there was an attempt to force a safe containing guns.

The gardai said that despite all the properties being ransacked, nothing was taken in any of the incidents. It is possible the same gang was involved in each burglary.

All of the burglaries happened on September 26, with the first being reported at 5pm on New Road, Roscrea. Later that evening a woman returned home to find her house ransacked at Larchville, Moneygall. The culprits gained entry through a rear window which they smashed using a gas cyclinder.

A safe containing guns was interfered with at a burglary in Ballinamona, but nothing was stolen. The culprits removed the alarm from the wall. Also that evening a burglary was reported at Bohar, Nenagh. The owner returned home at around 7pm and discovered the front door had been forced.

The fifth burglary happened at Travistown, Dolla, where the culprits entered through the rear door.

Meanwhile, the owner of a boutique in Nenagh had E300 in cash stolen from her handbag at around 4pm on Saturday, September 27. Three young females entered the shop and while two distracted the woman the third stole the bag. Gardai are viewing CCTV in relation to the incident.
