Minister for State at the Departmetnt of Transport, Tourism and Sport and local TD, Alan Kelly, has welcomed news of a €40 million fund for local sports projects in 2014.
The 2014 sports capital programme is the main channel for Government support for developing facilities at local level. The funding will be used for developing facilities and purchasing equipment for sporting organisations throughout Ireland. Minister Kelly expects that many Tipperary clubs will benefit and is encouraging perspective clubs to view the newly published terms and conditions.
“I expect many clubs in Tipperary and other sporting organisations to benefit from this funding. As a Government, it is important to support local sports clubs despite the difficult economic period we are all living in. These grants will improve sports facilities all over Tipperary,” said Minister Kelly.
“As Minister in the Department allocating this funding, my office will provide any advisory assistance it can. I would encourage perspective clubs to go www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie and/or to contact my office and any assistance I can provide, I will,”
“I would urge all organisations interested in applying for a grant to register immediately at www.sportscapitalogramme.ie. Applications for the 2014 programme will only be accepted online, and organisations must be registered in order to apply.”
The scheme is open for applications from noon on Friday January 17, registration closes on Friday, February 7, and applications close on Friday, February 28.
