The club’s AGM took place last week and was well attended.

Swopping positions, Owen Ryan takes up the Chair and Tom Lyons becomes Vice-Chair. Tom has been the club chairman for the past three years and we thank him for his excellent and inspirational leadership. We wish him and Catherine all the best, while welcoming Owen into his new position.

On Sunday last Breda Delahunty led a group of 24 C walkers on a lovely autumnal loop of Glenagarra Woods. In unseasonably mild fall of the year conditions, the walkers rambled the woodland paths and at one stage were able to gain access to lowland heath and moor beneath the ridge of O’Loughlin’s Castle, shrouded in a gently rolling mist. Both of next week’s walks are on the hills. Liz Breen will lead the A Walkers on nice leisurely stroll of Red Hill, meeting at Cappawhite Church at 10am. Margaret Hayes will lead a group on a ramble up Keeper Hill meeting at the church in Newport at 10am.
