Fourteen students from Cashel Community School, along with their parents and business teachers Ms Gleeson and Ms Reddan, travelled to WIT Waterford on Wednesday October 9th.
They were attending the BSTAI awards ceremony for students who achieved a grade A in their Junior Certifcate Higher level Business Studies exam.
The group of fourteen was one of the largest groups to attend the prestigious awards ceremony and this was a major source of pride and satisfaction for the school. Schools from Waterford, South Tipperary, Kilkenny, Cork and Wexford also attended the ceremony
The Awards ceremony was opened by the Dean of the Business Department and he commended the students on their great achievement and spoke about the importance of studying Business and the opportunities that it brings.
Each Student received a certificate recognising their achievement and Ms. Gleeson accepted a plaque on behalf of the school. A very enjoyable night was concluded with refreshments and the opportunity to meet the Kerry Footballer Colm Cooper.
On Wednesday October 10th eight students divided into two teams, accompanied by their teachers Ms. Reddan and Ms Gleeson, attended the CIMA Schools Quiz in Limerick. A total of eighteen teams from all over the mid-west participated in this highly competitive business orientated quiz. Half of the questions were related to the world of business and high finance and the remaining questions were based on general knowledge. At the end of a nerve tingling contest one of the CCS teams, who finished third overall, qualified for the national finals which will be held in Thurles after Christmas . Congratulations to Tom Davern, Rose Murray, Muireann O’Connor and Orla Purcell who were thrilled with the experience and with the result.
