The organisers of the “Clash without the Ash” White Collar Boxing Show to be held in Templemore Arms Hotel on February 15th, received a tremendous boost last weekend when Ronan Loughnane declared himself fit and ready to take the same ring as the best-selling “This Is Me” star and Radio Presenter Loughmore Castleiney’s Jonathan Cullen.
It is quite a while since both of them first took each other on in Boardroom verbal exchanges, but this time all present at this eagerly awaited event will have the pleasure of seeing them in action in the physical exchanges in the ring.
Ronan says he will be using all the shuffling bamboozling Ali-like dodging and punching skills given to him by a former great of the ring Martin Sweeney, who in turn got them from the Godfathers of Templemore Boxing, the late Tom Shortt and Kieran Devanney.
Jonathan is confident that his professionally choreographed dazzling footwork which he has hugely developed since he took to the whistle, allied to his power punching will see him deliver blows at speed faster than the wind.
It is safe to say at this stage that into all the punches thrown and moves made on the night will be poured all the craft, all the wristiness, all the power, all the venom, all the mistakes, all the lessons, taught and learned since the contestants first went into training for the show.
Another coup for the organisers was received a few days ago when they were contacted by Paul Collins, Today FM Radio presenter confirming that he had picked the event from thousands of other club fundraising events as the chief highlight of the many that are scheduled to take place around the country in the immediate future and he will be giving it many periods of airtime on his programmes in the coming weeks.
He has also volunteered to act as M.C on the night. You have heard him ask the questions, speak on many sports programmes, and in Croke Park, Pairc Ui Caoimh, Pairc nan Gael, on great sporting occasions. This is your chance to see and hear him at his best commenting ringside.
Such is the demand for tickets for the event that the organisers have no option but to greatly increase the capacity of the venue for the venture. This will be done by erecting a specially designed marquee so that all attending will be comfortably accommodated. All of the first issue of tickets have now been booked, but as you read, a second issue has come on stream and are available for purchase.
It is now certain that the emotions of all in attendance will be heightened to a degree that the experience of the moment will be of such intensity anybody could not have predicted.
All will know that they have been in the presence of something very special, perhaps even greatness!
Do not miss this opportunity to see the show of a lifetime – it may never come this way again. It looks like the start of “The Gathering” here in Templemore such are the enquiries.
