Mayor Cleary Humbled to be First Citizen

Thurles Town Councillor Michael Cleary (Fine Gael) became the new Mayor of the Cathedral Town this week having beaten off opposition from Sinn Fein Councillor David Doran after a vote was taken at the Annual General Meeting of the local authority.

As expected, Cllr Cleary had five of the eight votes available and therefore took over the chair vacated by departing Mayor, Councillor John Kennedy who had held the position for a year. See this weeks Tipperary Star for full details.
