Sacred Heart National School Celebrates 50 years

The rain may have been of biblical proportion but the Sacred Heart NS was an Ark of celebration, community, emotion and happiness last Friday. Nothing could dampen the spirits of all those who braved the elements on the wettest of Summer days. From the oldest in their nineties to the youngest, a mere couple of months old, joy abounded.

Guests arrived to the resounding choir of children from all classes in the school. Their sweet tones uplifted the spirits on this most noteworthy of days. Old friends and new gathered in the school hall to make and renew acquaintances. The atmosphere was carnival like and the smiles on faces were a joy to behold.

One could only be moved by that joy which the sights and sounds of the children brought to those who had gathered. Retired staff members, neighbours, parents, past pupils, politicians and friends of the school were bound together in nostalgia as they recalled 50 years of Sacred Heart education in our current school.
