6th Year Agricultural Science Visit

Our 6th year Agricultural Science class visited Coonevin farm, Borrisokane as part of their Agricultural Science course. On arrival we were greeted by the owner of the farm Mr. Padraig Moran. We were given an outline of the enterprises on the farm which were mainly sheep and suckler herd. After tea and scones for everybody we went out to the farm where the students got to see animals in the sheds being fed and so on. Padraig explained all the different jobs that are carried out on the farm in the management of sheep and suckler cows. Overall this was a most beneficial trip for our students in particular those who are not from farming backgrounds.

Senior Rugby

On the 16th January Phobal Senior Rugby team played Carrigaline Community school in Carrigaline. Coláiste Phobal started off slowly but it did not take too long for Jack Feeney to equalise with a penalty. Shortly after he put Coláiste Phobal ahead with a brilliantly executed penalty. After a period of Coláiste Phobal dominance we led by 16-6. Coláiste Phobal looked like they were going to finish the remainder of the match comfortably but Carrigaline picked up the pace and scored a try. This was not to deter the Coláiste team who were there for one purpose - to win. Again Jack Feeney scored a drop goal and the Coláiste men displayed some excellent defending. Steven Simmons displayed excellent play and undisputed Man of the Match went to Jack Feeney who scored all of Coláiste’s points. The final score was 19-11 to Coláiste Phobal. This team showed excellent skill, teamwork and friendship and are becoming a force to be reckoned with.
