Thurles Town Council Briefs

Liberty Square Up-Grade Mayor John Kennedy has called for the up-grade of Liberty Square to be set aside and undertaken as a project for 2012. Cllr Noel O’Dwyer encouraged the council to limit the “rooting and tearing” up of the Square and said that a lot of improvements could be made without affecting too much. Signage and refurbishment work could make a huge difference he said, without having to undertaken major infrastructural work. Cllr Jim Ryan also wondered if anything had been done about a feasibility study for a multi-storey car park in the town centre. The Town Clerk, Mr Michael Ryan, said that a proposal for the up-grade will be with the council members within a few weeks.
