On Friday 28th October we played our opening games in the volleyball league in Davis College Mallow. We played against Davis College and Dungarvan. Despite some impressive displays from Brian Lanigan, James Maxfield and Danny Doyle we were narrowly beaten in both games. Thankfully we are still in the competition and go through to the next round.
The second round of the John Murphy U19 Soccer took place at home on 28th October against Ballygarvan. The sides were well matched and it was a closely contested game. However Ballygarvan broke through our defence late in the game to score the winning goal. We are lying second in the group at present and look forward to our next outing.
Visit of Eucharistic Bell
The School Choir led by Miss Wallace and the Students Council led by Miss Cahill formed a guard of honour to welcome the Eucharistic Bell to our school on Monday 7th October. In fact ours was the last stop before it left County Tipperary. In his address our school chaplain Fr Lanigan Ryan reminded us that the bell is calling us to pray, to hear the voice of God in our lives and to contemplate and be silent. He also reminded us that bells symbolise joy and are rung at festive times like Christmas and Easter. This bell is asking us to celebrate our faith. Prayers were read by Donal Mulcahy and Jessica O Gorman. Miss Dorney’s art class decorated the library with beautiful religious paintings for this important visit. At the end of the ceremony students and teachers were invited to ring the bell.
