Parking outside the CBS at Summerhill led to a clash at the Nenagh Joint Policing committee’s June meeting between two of the members.
Martin Langton had called on the board of management at the school to raise the barrier in the school grounds to allow cars to pass from Summerhill to the Dublin Road when pupils were being left off and collected.
However, Cllr McGrath said that the issue had come before a board meeting and it had agreed that opening the barrier would cause additional problems and create a public road.
“It is not a solution to create a public road for half-an-hour because of a problem on Summerhill,” he said. “It’s a private road.”
But Mr Langton said that he was not suggesting a public road be created. “It’s for children, teachers and parents collecting children.”
