Cllr Morgan ‘Delighted’ To Be Back On Town Council

FORMER town councillor Tommy Morgan has spoken of his “absolute delight” at being co-opted this Monday to replace Independent councillor Tony Sheary on Nenagh Town Council.

FORMER town councillor Tommy Morgan has spoken of his “absolute delight” at being co-opted this Monday to replace Independent councillor Tony Sheary on Nenagh Town Council.

Cllr Sheary indicted to the council after Christmas that it was his intention to step aside. Cllr Sheary, who has previously represented Fianna Fail and the PDs locally, is understood to have become disillusioned with politics and has battled illness over the past while.

It is believed that Cllr Sheary initially hoped his daughter, Emily, would take his place on Nenagh Town Council, but she declined after she was appointed to work full time with Nenagh Reparation Project and feared her new position would prevent her from accepting the seat.

“I was not expecting this. It is a fantastic surprise,” Cllr Morgan told the Tipperary Star this Tuesday. “Tony called to my house last Monday week and left a message for me to call him. It’s a great thing for me.”
