The HSE West has applied to Tipperary County Council for a new development at Nenagh Hospital. The development will consist of the refurbishment of existing ward to the south east of the hospital and a new single storey extension incorporating 16 single bed wards and ancillary accommodation at groundfloor level.

The works will include all ancillary, associated, enabling works and temporary provisions, together with rerouting of a section of the existing campus access road.

The development is proposed on a site which includes buildings listed as protected structures within the site curtilage.

The Tipperary Star understands that the work follows on from inspections by the Health Information and Quality Authority and form part of an overall revamp of facilities to allow the hospital cater for increased daycare procedures and specialised services.
