The opening of Tesco in Roscrea has a had a negative impact on the Town’s income from pay parking, heard a Templemore Area Meeting of North Tipp County Council.
Cllr John Hogan said it would be reasonable to allow businesses who are struggling to pay rates, to have free parking in the town along with those with residents’ permits. Cllr Hogan said members should consider allow free parking on Saturdays. “I think it would be a huge benefit for the town.”
Cllr Pauline Coonan pointed to the proposed increase in off-street parking to 60c/hour. “It’s not conducive to going into the town centre. We need to get more footfall in the town centre.
