The Templemore Ladies – District Support Group has raised €13,000 for Cork University Maternity Hospital Treatment Centre over the past two and a half years.
The group comprises Ladies from Templemore AC, their families, and friends of cancer patients in the greater Mid Tipperary area. The group wishes to acknowledge the role played by a number of its members.
First, thanks to Geraldine Ingram for all the admin work, and to Mary Delaney for catering at all our fundraising events. Both ladies organized the ‘bottle collection’ which raised €5000 alone! Mary also did two radio interviews which brought large crowds to our fundraising events.
Martina Carey and Eileen O’Boyle as well as her sister Eithne apart from getting local sponsorship, also obtained significant donations from many County Tipperary Enterprises, as well as competing with 21 other ladies in the 2011 Dublin City Marathon.
These ladies and their friends organized a Table Quiz, Flag Day Collections, Coffee Mornings, Whist Drive, Running Limerick Road Race and others to raise the necessary finance. We wish to pay tribute to the “Hill Walkers”, and voluntary groups who became associated with the efforts of this association of ladies who assisted those a lot less able than the fundraisers.
We also wish to acknowledge Richard Ingram, prop “Spinning Wheel” Lounge and Bar for all his assistance with the various events and their catering requirements.
We also wish to pay tribute to Mrs Peggy Cussen Templetuohy, who raised money for all our events throughout her parish with Collection Bottles and Sponsorship Cards. She was an inspiration to us all.
Lastly, we wish to acknowledgement Martin Leydon (Our Ladies Secondary School) for his guidance and fundraising ideas throughout 2010, 2011, 2012. His advice was greatly appreciated.
For 2013 this group will now concentrate on funding for the “Infant Intensive Care Unit” at Waterford Regional Hospital, catering for sick Tipperary Infants.
