Sanctioning for a new community and sports centre for Littleton has finally arrived, The Tipperary Star can reveal this week, with the E1.2 million required having been put together.
The facility, which has been in the planning stage for almost seven years, will be located on a nine acre site in Ballybeg, Littleton which was purchased from a local farmer in the interim.
A number of public consultation processes have since been held in the village as well as a needs analysis survey which identified the need for a community/ sports facility in the parish of Moycarkey-Borris which has a population of just over 3,000 people.
The long running saga came to a close on Monday when Cllr Seamus Hanafin, who has been working on this project for a number of years, informed The Tipperary Star that it was finally over the line. See this weeks Tipperary Star for full report.
