CASHEL will be in the world’s media spotlight this week when it welcomes Queen Elisabeth II to the Rock of Cashel, after which Her Majesty is expected to pay a short private visit to Coolmore Stud near Fethard.
Alan Kelly TD will be welcoming the Queen to the historic town.
“I am delighted to be among the people to officially welcomes her to this great county on behalf of the Government. It is both and honour and a unique opportunity to showcase Tipperary to the world and we will make every moment count,” stated Kelly.
Minister Kelly, who works in the Department of Tourism, believes that the visit will help bring tourism numbers to Tipperary and will hopefully lead to some job creation when the visit of the Queen is taken into account with the visit of US President Barack Obama. A website has been set up in the Dept of Transport to show people how to get around the country and to see the sites where both the Queen and the US President are going,”
“We are very lucky in Tipperary to have two of the highest profile people on the globe come and visit our doorsteps – Barack Obama will be travelling within the county bounds of Tipperary. This will provide the county with millions worth of advertising globally and will help boost our tourism numbers,” stated Kelly.
The boost will come following the jobs initiative the first step the new Government has taken to try to restore the country’s economic fortunes. Minister Kelly
“In the current climate your reputation around the world is key to attracting investment. Given the damage done to our reputation by our banks and the last Government, the visit of the Queen and President Obama could not have come at a more critical time,” concluded Kelly.
