Tipperary hurling star Lar Corbett, who has just opened his own bar in Thurles, has this week encouraged people not to be afraid to try new things in business and to go the extra mile to ensure that customers are encouraged to check out your services, products and premises.
Hurler of the Year in 2010, Lar has been very busy ensuring that his bar at Coppinger’s, Parnell Street, Thurles has gotten off the ground to a flying start.
And, although the pub trade is in his blood, with his father and mother having run a bar at Cathedral Street for many yeras, Lar has come to the business at this stage of his career, after work in the electrical contracting sector dried up.
“I am a qualified electrician but when things dried up in this area I had to look at other things. I’d be saying to people, don’t be afraid to try new things - if they don’t work out, move on and get going again.
“Most people don’t go into business because they are afraid of failing, but I’d be saying to them, give it a try and see how it goes. If you fail, so be it, just get up and move on again,” Lar told The Tipperary Star this week.
