The Late Josephine Condon - The death has taken place on March 2nd of Josephine (Josie) Condon (nee Duggan) late of Church Street, Cahir and Ballygurteen Golden, mother of Annette Byrne, Glen Carrig.
The Late Joe Bourke - The death has taken place of Joe Bourke, 66 Sean Treacy Avenue, Thurles and formerly of Thurles Road, Littleton, brother of Peggy Kirby, Two-Mile-Borris. Burial took place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery after 10.30 a.m. Requiem Mass in the Cathedral. Deeply mourned by his wife Anne, sons, daughters, brother, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
St. Patrick’s Day - Everyone is requested to collaborate with our Fas workers in keeping the village streets free of refuse so that our visitors on parade day are well received. As in other years we encourage householders to put up national, county or parish flags. Bunting will be put in place by Fas on the Main Street and near the viewing stand. Participants in the parade are requested to hand in a short description of their entry to the viewing stand or to Margaret Bannon or Charlotte Cashin who will be the contact persons on the morning. The usual traffic restrictions will be in place on the Ballybeg Castle and the Ballybeg New Birmingham roads from 10.30 a.m. when the participants begin and assemble. Prize giving night will be in Darmody’s Bar on Saturday, 26th March with prizes for juveniles distributed in the schools. The committee extend a cead mile failte to one and all and pray that St. Patrick will bless us all with joy and courage for the year ahead.
Littleton Tidy Towns - Thanks to Thomas Ryan and Robert Shea who have cut hedges and ditches on the approach roads opening up a beautiful panoramic view of the village when one approaches from the Cork direction. Also to our Fas workers who recently transplanted a dozen ornamental holly trees in St. Kevin’s Park. The national Spring clean is due to commence shortly. Unfortunately dumping of litter and bags of rubbish is still frequent on the approach roads. All dumping should be reported immediately to North Tipp. Co. Council at Free-phone 1800 250 350 or in South Tipp. area at 1800 202 627.
Come And Learn - Crochet Demonstration on Thursday, 10th March at 9 p.m. in the Muintir na Tire Hall, anybody interested in learning crochet/knitting will be welcome when Mrs. Phil Dwyer will give a beginners demonstration. These demonstrations will continue at our monthly meetings over the winter and will include knitting, cookery, cake icing, Christmas decorations, flower atrranging etc. and of course a bit of craic. We look forward to young mums availing of this opportunity at no charge. I.C.A. members are asked to be in the Hall at 8 p.m. sharp to attend to I.C.A. business.
