Kelly’s Appeal To Fellow CBS Students
NENAGH’S Junior Minister Alan Kelly has called on all former students of Nenagh CBS to contribute to the school’s time capsule fundraising to raise funds for a new general assembly room.
“Earlier this year I was delighted to be in a position to secure substantial funding for the school to build three new classrooms, a resource room and a new woodwork room. I was particularly happy to facilitate this as former student of the school. The funding will provide much needed classrooms for the students,” Deputy Kelly said.
In addition to the five new classrooms, the school needs an assembly room and a canteen, and in order to fund this the school have set up a fundraising initiative. All past pupils who make a donation will be asked to write a personal message that will be engraved on small stainless steel discs and buried in a time capsule under the floor of the new part of the school. The capsules will be opened after 50 years and the descendants of the donor will be able to read their message. This fundraising initiative gives an opportunity for past pupils or their parents to show their gratitude to the school for the education they got there by helping the current students and students of the future.
“I urge past pupils to donate to this fund and make a real difference at the school” the Junior Minister said.
He welcomed the announcement by the school that a local company, Pinnacle Homes, had been awarded the contract for the building works.
