Investigation into dissident Republican activity in Tipperary

Gardai have arrested three males as part of an ongoing investigation into dissident Republican activity. The men were arrested yesterday evening (7/2/2013) during an operation on the N24 at Cahir, Co. Tipperary, involving members of the Special Detective Unit, other National Units and local Garda Units.

Three men (all aged in their 30s) were arrested at the scene and a number of explosive devices were seized along with 2 motor cars. Technical and ballistic examinations are ongoing.

The men are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939 at Clonmel and Cahir Garda Stations.
