Hospital Group Extend Their Thanks for Strong Showing of Support

Community Hospital of the Assumption Thurles Action Group would like to thank all those who supported our cause.

Community Hospital of the Assumption Thurles Action Group would like to thank all those who supported our cause.

The Community Hospital of the Assumption Action Group have extended a sincere thank you to all of those who attended or supported their recent public meeting, held on October 4th, seeking the restoration of the full complement of beds in the state of the art facility.

As a group we were hugely heartened by the overwhelming support shown by the people of Thurles and the surrounding areas. By showing up in such large numbers and by completely filling the Tipperary Institute a strong message was sent to our T.D’s, to Minister Reilly, the Government and the HSE. It is clear that the people of Thurles will not tolerate these closures, will not go away and will continue to fight for our vital Community Hospital. We would like to thank all those that turned up on the night, or who assisted in organising or helping the night become such a success.

We were greatly heartened by the announcement made by Deputy Noel Coonan, at that public meeting. Deputy Coonan stated that further to talks with the Chief Executive Officer of the HSE Mr. Tony O’Brien, and the Secretary General of the Department of Health Mr. Ambrose McLoughlin, a large number of fully staffed beds will be returned to the hospital, within a short number of weeks, and a further tranche of beds will be restored in the new year. We look forward to the restoration of these beds and the deliverance of the announcement made by Deputy Noel Coonan. The people of Thurles have seen such promises previously and have been let down but we trust that this announcement will be delivered upon immediately. We can assure the Deputy that we are determined to continue to fight our case and look forward to the deliverance of these beds as guaranteed. The Action Group are determined to continue to fight to ensure that our state of the art hospital is fully restored and will continue to work towards this aim.
