Thurles Flower & Garden Club held its annual Christmas Gala demonstration on Tuesday November 14th in Scoil Ailbhe, CBS primary school hall. The demonstration was given by AOIFA demonstrator Betty Holden from Graignamanagh. This was a fabulous experience of Floral and Flower arranging artistry. All through her demonstration, Betty held the members of the audience spellbound and her interaction with them until she placed the last flower, deserved the standing ovation she received at the end of the night.

The Thurles club is affiliated to AOIFA, The Association of Irish Floral Artists, and AOIFA raises funds every two years for a national charity, nominated by the various clubs and supported by all affiliated clubs. This year the Thurles club choose Suir Haven as its local charity, to fundraise for, indeed a great facility to have here in Thurles. The club would like to thank all members and non-members who helped on the night, The Board of Management of Scoil Ailbhe and the Principal, Bríd Ryan for all her support.

Next year, 2018, the Thurles club will celebrate its fortieth birthday. It was founded in 1978 in the Munster Hotel and it's one remaining founder member is the club President, Kathleen Sheedy. New members are always welcome. The club meets during the year for garden talks, flower arranging demonstrations and classes in floral artistry. Further information is available from the secretary, Tom on 087 8358842.
