'Taste of Roscrea' promises a feast of fun for all the family this Christmas

Roscrea Town is set for a magical and spectacular few days as this year's launch of the Taste of Roscrea was revealed.

This Christmas event, which is in its sixth year, has become a huge event in the town and indeed one of the main festivals in the Premier County.

Thousands of people flock to see the food and craft on display in the scenic Damer Grounds. Last years event reached record levels with the introduction of Snow business by Franc. The magic of Christmas was accompanied by snow and Franc is taking a break from his RTE Show to once again join the festival this year.

Roscrea has also been selected as “Enterprise Town” in 2017, and organisers are very excited to host this initiative in Roscrea as part of Taste of Roscrea which will be held on Thursday the 7th of December from 9 – 9pm. Manager Pat Hartnett said “he is delighted to see the great level of support from the local communities for this event. We are calling on businesses and community groups to get involved”.

Wexford Hurling Manager and Ireland’s fittest family coach, Davy Fitzgerald will be the host of this night and there will be activities for all ages on the night.

Killavilla United will host a Fashion Show on Friday the 8th with doors opening at 7.30pm. This is a great fundraising initiative for the club and they are getting huge support throughout the town. Shops that will be participating on the night include, Outdoor World, The Work Wear Centre, Jazz Alley, Moloneys Sport, Ellie Mai, Glitzy Bits and Shaws.

Chairperson of Taste of Roscrea and local Councillor Michael Smith says this year plans to be the biggest to date with something for all the family. “We are delighted to have Bank of Ireland working with us to create a night of local enterprise and initiative. It promises to be an evening of excitement with a number of well known personalities attending on the night. Our annual Fashion Show will be hosted by Killavilla United. This club, its members and its organisers have provided a fantastic facility in the town, a huge success story providing for the youth and I know this will be a great show”.

The famous Santa Claus and his helpers will again be ready to meet all the boys and girls with a few extra surprises in his bag.

The local Garda will assist people in their National Safety awareness, accompanied by the simulator which has proven to be a very popular attraction. The committee are delighted to have so much interest from the different organisations within the town. The clear message is think local, shop local!
