Garda Gemma Crampsie made history in the Garda Training College Templemore today by joining her mother Madeline on the Force - the first ever mother and daughter to actively serve at the same time.
Garda Gemma Crampsie made history in the Garda Training College Templemore today by joining her mother Madeline on the Force - the first ever mother and daughter to actively serve at the same time.
Garda Crampsie, a native of Letterkenny, County Donegal will be stationed in Dundalk, while her mother Madeline, who graduated back in 2002 is based in Donegal.
There were eight Tipperary Gardai amongst the 119 males and 26 female who were congratulated on the day by Minister for Justice and Equality Frances Fitzgerald and Garda Commissioner Noirin O'Sullivan who were both present to enjoy the day with family and friends of the recruits.

Just five of the new recruits will be stationed in the South Eastern Region of Tipperary, whereas 109 will be stationed in Dublin and the Eastern Region.
