Positive Ageing week celebrated in The Cathedral Town of Thurles

Over 200 attend events to celebrate Positive Ageing throughout the week

Two hundred people attended events in Thurles to celebrate Positive Ageing Week from Monday 26th to Friday 30th.

The trip around Tipp was sold out, with the tour taking in Mount St. Joseph’s in Roscrea, the museum at the Barack Obama Complex, the Nenagh Castle complex, lunch in Ballycommon and then onto the lookout over Lough Derg.

The trip proved great value for people at only €10.00 per head.

Wednesday’s tea dance was also extremely well attended, after celebrating Mass with Fr. Phil Barry. Local charity Successful Ageing Thurles who fundraise and organise the events would like to thank all those who attended and all our volunteers, including the wonderful transition year students from Presentation School, Thurles, members of the Order of Malta, staff at the GAA museum on Slievenamon Rd, staff at Thurles Library and Mary Finn.

Successful Ageing Thurles would also like to thank our sponsors, without whom the events would not be possible.

Sponsors include Thurles Lions, Tipperary County Council, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Health Service Executive and North Tipperary Vintage Club.

Successful Ageing Thurles would welcome new committee members to assist organising events.
