Heritage week events in Roscrea

National Heritage week (21st-28th) August is co-coordinated by the Heritage Council and its aim is to build awareness and education regarding our heritage.

To coincide with National Heritage week, Roscrea Heritage Society have organised the following events:

Know your monument walking tour

Mon 22nd-Tues 23rd August @2-3pm. Meeting point in the castle yard from 1.45pm. A guided walking tour of historic sites in our town centre such as the round tower and Romanesque doorway.

This is a free family friendly event. There will be a short question sheet at the end of the tour, so be sure to listen carefully to the guide,to answer the questions and receive your goody bag.

Country Market Bake Sale

Fri 26th 10-2pm/. Venue: King John's Castle Courtyard. Members of Roscrea Country Market, who have been trading in our town for over 50 years, welcome you to come enjoy a cuppa and a cake in the Castle yard. On sale will be home baked goods and preserves to name a few. Enjoy a wander around the beautiful castle garden while you are here.

Rambling House

Saturday 27th 6-8pm.Venue: King John's Castle courtyard

Join Séamus Moloughney & friends for what will be a memorable evening. Enjoy stories, songs and rhymes from the rare ould times. All welcome. Free admission.

Roscrea People through time

Sun 28th 2-4pm.Venue: King John's Castle, Roscrea

Step into our Castle and step back in time to meet some of Roscrea's heroic men and women. Characters such as John (Jack) Moyney, Sgt Martin ( Marty) Maher and Daisy Bates will be delighted to tell their stories. Free Admission.

Roscrea Through the Age - Photographic Exhibition

Damer House Gallery Sat 20th-Sun 28th 10-5pm. Display of old photographs pertaining to Roscrea. Free Admission.
