Green shoots for 'Crann' in Roscrea

A well-attended meeting recently saw a reinvigorated Crann branch begin again. George Cunningham gave a brief synopsis of past activities of the Branch, most of which centred around tree conferences at the Cistercian Abbey.

As most of those present were from Roscrea and there was a very welcome gathering of Roscrea Tidy Towns members it was decided to pursue a new tree plan for Roscrea in the coming year. This was felt the most appropriate way forward for the near future.

Officers elected were President, George Cunningham; Chairman, Denis Ryan; Sec/Treasurer Rose Crofton. Those present agreed to act as a committee for the coming year. Participants present were presented with Tree literature; Mary Heffernan was the proud recipient of a sparkling copy of the Heritage Trees of Ireland and Canon Jane Galbraith won a copy of the Round Tower at Roscrea and its environs.
