Roscrea Cardiac First Responders have been campaigning to raise awareness around Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
The Roscrea Responders team can be seen (picture right) with Fr Tom Corbett, who is receiving AED from Kerry Ann Nolan on behalf of the residents of Cnoc Mhuire-Assumption Park.
The publically accessible AED was erected on the wall at Jer McMahon No 58.
Speaking on behalf of Roscrea Responders. Ms Nolan they want to say a “a special word of thanks to Jer for allowing this area as it is in the middle of our estate.
“Also Fr Tom Corbett for the Blessing, and a huge 'thank you' to Roscrea Cardiac First Responders who made this possible through their many fund raising activities.
“Roscrea CFR are actively recruiting new members to the group. If you are interested in joining please contact 087-4439366 or www.roscreafr.org.” added Ms Nolan.
Roscrea Cardiac Responders are a voluntary group which assist the ambulance service. They attend calls for chest pain, heart attack,cardiac arrest and stroke.
“Over the last couple of weeks and months they have been fundraising and doing demonstrations in the area to help make people aware ,of the importance of learning CPR and AED use.
“We would like to thank the people of Roscrea for their generosity. This AED will serve the residents of all the estates in this area. We would like to thank the residents for attending the presentation last Wednesday evening and also Fr. Tom for his lovely prayers and for the blessing for the AED,” added Ms Nolan.
