New signage strategy for Roscrea Enhancement Plan

The Chairman of the Roscrea Enhancement Committee, Brian King was available earlier this week to give an update on the progress of the Roscrea Enhancement Plan.

The Roscrea Enhancement Committee is working on a new signage and way-finding strategy for Roscrea. This plan will include new ways for visitors to find their way to the town, new ways for people to find their way around the town, and new ways to access the stories the town has to tell. An open evening was hosted recently, at Damer House Annex, Roscrea, to view the draft plans and to provide feedback on the proposals. Members of the Enhancement Committee attended this forum as did members of the public. Initial impressions were very good with examples given of some high quality signage that could be used in the town. Once all the feedback etc is correlated and a strategy agreed upon, the Enhancement Committee can commence seeking funding to purchase and implement the new signage. It is expected that this work will be done in conjunction with the local authority.

A recent workshop hosted by the Enhancement Committee to explore options for the green space at the corner of Chapel Lane/ Gantly Rd was also discussed. Those in attendance helped explore how the space can best serve the local community and how a new plan could contribute to the enhancement of the area and the town in general. The workshop output will feed into a draft plan being currently drawn up by landscape consultants. For full story see this week's Tipperary Star
