Semple Stadium likely to get the nod for hurling qualifiers next weekend

Semple Stadium in Thurles is likely to get the nod from the GAA's CCC when they sit down this afternoon to fix the All-Ireland senior hurling qualifier ties between Cork and Wexford and, Limerick and Clare. The games are most likley to be fixed for Saturday evening next.

The round 2 hurling qualifier draw took place this morning with Davy Fitzgerald and TJ Ryan set to renew acquaintances. The Clare and Limerick bosses saw their teams paired against each other with Kieran Kingston’s Cork set to face Liam Dunne’s Wexford.

Clare defeated Limerick in March’s Allianz hurling league clash in Ennis which settled the promotion battle from Division 1B.

In last Saturday’s qualifier games, Clare thrashed Laois while 14-man Limerick saw off Westmeath. Cork ran out three-point winners at home to Dublin while Wexford defeated Offaly.

The double bill would be a mouth watering event for hurling enthusiastis all over and would attract upwards of 25,000 to the stadium.
