Fourteen man Tipperary show great composure to hold out for victory

Tipperary 3-12

Limerick 1-15

Fourteen man Tipperary held out for victory against Limerick in the Munster senior hurling championship at Semple Stadium on Sunday to set up a Munster Final date with Waterford - a repeat of last years decider which Tipperary won.

Despite losing attacker John O'Dwyer to a straight red card in the 14th minute, Tipperary posted three first half goals from midfielder Michael Breen (2) and full forward Seamus Callanan to establish a 3-5 to 0-11 interval lead having played into the breeze.

Tipp added just seven points in the second half - Noel McGrath getting 0-3 of those - but the heavy lifting had been done in the first, and though Limerick got a late late goal, the Tipp victory was never in doubt.
