Not a bad start to the season. Tipperary's blitzing of Dublin in the opening round of the Allianz National Hurling League in Semple Stadium on Saturday evening reversed last years fixture at the same stage in Parnell Park, and gave an indication, perhaps, of what direction Michael Ryan intends taking the team.
In truth, the big story of the evening was how poor Dublin played. But, that is, perhaps, too shallow a summation of the game. Truth is Tipperary didn't allow the Dubs to get into stride and the high energy approach from all the Premier lads left Ger Cunninghams men reeling. Tipp hunted in packs, particularly outfield - a refreshing approach which resulted in Dublin not being able to plot their own course due to the pressure applied.
