Golden|Kilfeacle’s dominant first half performance against the strong breeze ensured victory over Eire Og on Sunday in the under-21 B football championship game at Golden. The home side benefitted from having a game played in this competition as Eire Og struggled to get into the game. The second period saw an improved performance from Eire Og with a quick point from Jamie O’Dwyer within minutes of the re-start. But Golden killed off any hope of a comeback with their second goal from Stephen Ryan with about 20 minutes remaining. Eire Og kept plugging away with a hat-trick of pointed frees from Darragh Mooney before Gearoid Ryan fired home a consolation goal for Eire Og, who played better against the elements.

Golden were best served by Matthew Ryan,Christopher Ryan, Aidan O Connell, Kevin Moloney, Paddy Ryan, Tomas Burns and Liam Nagle.

Best for Eire Og were goalie Michael Ryan, who pulled off some excellent saves, defenders Sean Breen & Jeremy Furlong, Paul Downey at midfield with Darragh Mooney prominent up front.
