Senior Hurling - Toomevara will play Templederry in Nenagh on this Saturday the 17th of August in Round 3 of the county senior hurling championship at 7pm in Nenagh.
Toomevara and Ballina played out an epic group 2 final on Saturday morning last in Borrisoleigh. Toomevara who had Darragh Spillane(0-01f), Sean Hogan, Brian Troy, Ciaran Grace(0-03), Rory Brislane(0-02), Patrick Whealan, Conor O Farrell, Conor Grace, Kenneth Ryan(0-01), Eamonn White(1-01), Stephen Cantwell, Kieran Boyle, James Meagher, James Duff and Eoin Healy in their ranks put up a great performance but were unfortunate to come up against a well organised and highly skilfull Ballina side who also had an inspired performance by their goalkeeper. That said the performance by our lads and the standard that this game was played, gave great delight to all who attended this game. Ballina scored an early goal in the 1st half and took a 1-04 to 0-03 points lead in to the half time break and were good value for this lead but Toomevara came out all guns blazing in the 2nd half and even with the knock back of another early Ballina goal our boys battled on courageously and were within a point with a few minutes to go. Toomevara were trying hard for an equalising point and were mounting attack after attack in an effort to get this valuable score, Toomevara were on the attack when they were harshly penalised for over carrying and Ballina scored their last goal from the resulting free. Well done to Ballina on a great win and well done to all our players on a great performance even in defeat. The club would like to thank Brendan Spillane, Ciaran O Farrell, Tony Cullen, Paudie Bourke and Philip Shanahan on all their hard work and coaching throughout the year.
