Moneygall GAA

Séamus Ó Riain Centre: On Saturday evening last the club held a function to officially unveil our clubhouse as The Séamus Ó Riain Centre. Moneygall’s north and county championship winning captain Pat Sheedy acted as M.C. for the evening’s formalities, and chairman Darragh Hayes began proceedings by welcoming everyone in attendance. Fr. Joe Kennedy blessed the new building, and then our guest of honour, north board president Matt Hassett, unveiled a commemorative plaque. Other guests included county board chairman Sean Nugent, north board chairman John McGrath, and Moneygall club presidents Gerry Maher and Tim Liffey.

The countless hours of time and skills given by so many volunteers during the construction of the original clubhouse in the seventies was acknowledged by the speakers, and it was great to see so many of these people and their families in attendance. It was also great to see so many former club players and officers present on the evening. A selection of photographs from this event can now be viewed on our website, www.moneygall.gaa.ie.

Senior: Moneygall were beaten by Kildangan by 2-16 to 1-11 in our last group match of the north championship on Sunday evening in Nenagh. This disappointing result means we cannot qualify for the north quarter finals and now await the first round of the county championship on June 16th.

Junior: Our league match against Kilruane MacDonaghs was postponed last weekend. See north board fixture list for our next match.

Under 14: Our Under 14 footballers were beaten by Silvermines in our last group match last Wednesday evening in Moneygall.

Scór Variety Night: Our Scór Variety Show, originally planned for this Saturday night in Dunkerrin Community Centre, has been postponed for the time being.

RIP: The club sends its condolences to the Coonan family, Crimblin, and to the family of Roche Williams, Cloughjordan, following their recent bereavements.
