Thurles CBS booked their spot in the Harty Cup final at St Michael’s Park, Toomevara on Saturday afternoon when the 2009 champions enjoyed a one-point win over fourteen-man Castletroy Community College.

The Thurles CBS lads were asked plenty of hard questions in this encounter and proved marginally the better team. Despite trailing 1-6 to 0-3 at the break Castletroy College made an admirable stand and out-scored Thurles 0-6 to 0-1 during the opening nineteen minutes of the second half to reduce the deficit to a manageable one (0-9 to 1-7). Thurles CBS, however, steadied themselves and manfully stood their ground when it mattered most in the final quarter of this entertaining tussle (1-9 to 0-11).

The final against St Francis College, Rochestown is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 21st in Mallow. In their respective semi-final Rochestown beat Árdscoil Rís.

Thurles CBS are a fine side and are led by three quality men, namely Niall Cahill (Nenagh Éire Óg), Martin Maher (Borris-Ileigh) and John Devane (Clonoulty-Rossmore). On Saturday Thurles CBS only won by a point, but you can expect these players to play with pride, passion and no little skill in the final.
