Crosco Cup Final Arravale Rovers 1-17 Sean Treacy’s 1-13
It was third time lucky for Arravale Rovers when they won the Crosco Cup by defeating Sean Treacy’s by 1-17 to 1-13 in the final played at Dundrum on Sunday evening. On the two previous occasions they made it to the final they lost, to Kickhams in 1998 and to Golden-Kilfeacle in 2003. It appears also to have been the first time the competition was won by an intermediate side. Intermediate teams were allowed into the competition only in later years.
It was Sean Treacys who had the better opening on Sunday evening when Sean Ryan had the ball in the net exactly thirteen seconds into the game. They followed up with a point and appeared to be in control.
Gradually Arravale settled into the game, helped in no small way by some fine free-taking by Paddy Dalton and they were very much in the game at the interval, when they trailed by 0-8 to 1-7.
