Dundrum was the venue under very hot conditions on Saturday last for the staging of the County U 14 Football finals.
The original schedule for the A, B & C finals to be brought to a conclusion came unstuck due to unforeseen circumstances concerning the Clerihan club in the B championship.
First action of the day was the 14 C final between south champions Kilsheelan Kilcash and west contenders Solohead. The west champions were under pressure right from the commencement being the smaller club they were forced to give way to the strength of the opposition.
.Kilsheelan captain Aaron Dempsey was playing the captains part slotting over points from play and frees. Halfback Mark Stokes was equal up to the task in the free taking department when called to duty. Cathal Kelly was always on the prowl with both skill and movement in abundance and accounting for three of Kilsheelan points tally. For Solohead captain Denis O’Shea was working tirelessly as were D.J.Cremins and Ben Quinn but were up against constant opposition force. As the opening half was coming to a close Jack.Redican struck the Kilsheelan net for the games first goal to put the interval score reading Kilsheelan 0-07 Solohead 1-00.
