Mid Tipperary Junior B Hurling Final

Holycross 0-17

Killea 1-14

Holycross/Ballycahill and Killea will have to fight it out all over again in their quest for championship glory as both sides played out a very entertaining and dramatic draw in the Mid Junior B final played in ideal conditions in Drombane, last Saturday.

It was the men in green and white that managed to ensure that this encounter would be heading for a reply as they snatched a late equalising point with literally the last puck of the game.

In truth it was no more than deserved as the dominated in possession for long periods in the second half having been outclassed for the majority of the half by a very spirited Killea side.

Spearheaded by senior inter-county panellist Thomás Hamill at centre forward Killea lead by six points, 1-10 to 7 points at the interval.

Hamill accounting for 1-5 of their half time total with his goal coming from the penalty spot on 25 minutes after full forward Eamon Welsh had been impeded inside the small rectangle underneath a high dropping ball.

However it was Holycross who came out a much changed side after the interval and a flurry of points from the impressive free taking exploits of Paudie Comerford had his side level mid-way through the second half.

Both sides failed to really take the game by the scruff of the neck from then on and both were guilty of squandering vital chances in front of the posts.

Both sides exchanged points with ten minutes remaining on the watch, which left Killea ahead on the narrowest of margins 1-14 to 15 points.

However Holycross dug deep and scored two unanswered points inside the final three minutes to bring an absorbing contest to a dramatic finale and end on a score line of 1-14 to 17 points.
