Third annual Festival set to kick off.

The third annual Thurles Sarsfields International Hurling Festival will be launched at Sarsfields Social Centre this Friday evening at 6pm.

This year’s festival, which will be held on Munster senior hurling final week-end, July12th and 13th., is one of the headline events for “The Gathering” in Tipperary, a national tourism initiative sponsored by IPB Insurance with the aim of encouraging Irish exiles to return home for a holiday to coincide with some local event.

Minister of State, Alan Kelly, will launch the festival which this year will feature sixteen teams, four more than last year. Teams from London, Indianaopolis, and St Louis, will join with clubs from Northern Ireland and the Republic, to compete for the Tom Semple and Jack Carew Cups.
