In round one of the county senior football championship Moyne-Templetuohy defeated Killenaule by one point in Littleton last Saturday evening with the final score Moyne-Templetuohy 1-7 Killenaule 0-9.
County Junior Hurling League
In last weekend’s games Thurles Sarsfields drew with St Patrick’s and Thurles Gaels were beaten by Carrick Swans.
Mid Junior Hurling League
Clonakenny defeated Gortnahoe-Glengoole in Clonakenny last Saturday evening and the three goals that Clonakenny registered made the difference in the end Clonakenny 3-6 Gortnahoe 0-13.
Murphys Office Systems MFC
In the A championship Holycross had a big win over Moycarkey - Holycross 1-16 Moycarkey 0-3 - and in the B championship Gortnahoe defeated Moyne- Templetuohy Og by 4-7 to 0-6.
There are a number of games on this evening. In the A championship Bracken’s will play Holycross in Templemore at 7pm and in the Ragg Drom will play Thurles Sarsfields also at 7pm. In the B championship Boherlahan play Upperchurch in Boherlahan at 6pm and in Templetuohy at 7pm Moyne-Templetuohy Og will host Loughmore.
Michael Dundon Receives
Congratulations to Michael Dundon former editor of the Tipperary Star and former Thurles Sarsfields star who received the Hall of Fame McNamee Award at a ceremony in Croke Park last Saturday. The McNamee Awards honours excellence in the area of communications, public relations and journalism, specifically related to the activities of the association. Michael, who is synonymous with Gaelic games and Premier County activity specifically and is still active on the GAA scene covering local games for the Tipperary Star, brought his passion and expertise to bear on his coverage of games at all levels, not least those at inter-county level right up to All-Ireland finals over the course of many years. Michael has been involved in the publication of 2,500 editions of the Tipperary Star. We congratulate Michael who is a most deserving winner of this very prestigious award.
Electric Ireland Munster Minor Hurling Championship Quarter-Final
Congratulations to the Tipperary minor hurlers on their great win over Waterford in the Electric Ireland Munster Minor Hurling Championship Quarter-Final. Mid Tipperary was well represented on the team and had great performances from Ronan Maher (Thurles Sarsfields), Colin O’Riordan (JK Bracken’s), Conor Lanigan (Thurles Sarsfields) and sub Kevin Dunne (Thurles Sarsfields).
Cadbury Munster Under-21 Football Final
Hard luck to Tipperary under-21 footballers who were beaten by Cork in the Cadbury Munster Under-21 Football Final. Niall O’Sullivan (Moycarkey-Borris) and Liam McGrath (Loughmore-Castleiney) were prominent members of the team.
Friends of Tipperary Football Fundraiser
The Friends of Tipperary Football are running a Fun Cycle fundraiser on Saturday, April 20th to raise funds to aid Tipperary football teams. All clubs have been issued with details of the event and sponsorship cards and your support would be much appreciated in order to carry on the great work that is being done at county level for Tipperary football teams.

Comhairle Ardoideachais have announced the Irish Daily Mail Future Champions Teams of the 2013 Higher Education Championships and Tipperary star Noel McGrath (Loughmore–Castleiney) was selected on the Irish Daily Mail Hurling Future Champions 2013 team for his magnificent displays for UCD in this year’s Irish Daily Mail Sigerson Cup. We congratulate Noel on his selection.

Scor na Mumhan
The final of Scor na Mumhan took place recently in Our Lady’s Secondary School Templemore and we say well done to all our representatives from Mid Tipperary and we congratulate Noel Joyce (JK Bracken’s), winner of Recitation for the second year running, and to JK Bracken’s set dancers who won Rince Foirne making it a great night for the club. The All-Ireland final will take place in Derry on Saturday, April 27th.
