The Seniors got their first taste of competitive action this year when they lined up under the floodlights in Borrisoleigh on Wednesday evening last.
Facing the Roscrea team in the Quarter Final of the Cup was Templederry. The team were defeated by three points on a scoreline of 2-09 to 1 – 15.
The management however will have taken great heart with some notable performances. An Eithan Flynn goal deserved plenty of plaudits and it was great to see so many of our young hurlers getting a taste of Senior hurling. On Sunday last the Seniors took on the Offaly 21’s in a friendly, and were defeated on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2-14. The team comprised of K. Dooley D. Buckley L. England M. Campion D O’Connor D. Fitzgerald D. Spooner K. McMahon S. Fitzgerald D. Flynn P. Carroll J. Fitzpatrick J. Bergin J. Carroll E. Flynn.
Subs: M. Kiely for D. Buckley S. Davis for M. Campion P. Breen for D. Fitzgerald J. Ryan for K. McMahon C. Sheedy for D. Flynn A. Conlon for J. Fitzpatrick E. Fitzgerald for J. Carroll. Jamie Bergin scored the first goal in the first half with Co. Meath full-back Enda Fitzgerald using his strength and footballing skills to score Roscrea’s second goal. Good displays from Michael Campion, Darren O’Connor, Darragh Spooner, Padraic Carroll and Eithan Flynn. Next training is at 7.15pm on Wednesday the 22nd of February in St Cronan’s park.
