A ferocious affair appeared to have reached a critical juncture when points from Árdscoil Rís’ William O’Donoghue and Jack Kelleher helped the defending champions into a 0-12 to 0-10 lead by the 55th minute.
With Árdscoil Rís playing with the aid of a stiff breeze such scores would normally shrivel the resistance of most opponents. But it takes that bit more to nail down the lid on the Nenagh CBS coffin and before Árdscoil Rís knew it the Nenagh lads were rising from the dead. Again.
In the 57th minute Tadhg Gallagher conjured a wonderful pass into the hand of Jason Forde who raced through before firing home a terrific goal. Nenagh CBS led by a point, but Árdscoil Rís re-grouped and profited from a ridiculous refereeing decision when Jack Peters was penalised by referee Pat Casey (Waterford) and Jamie Shanahan fired over the placed opportunity.
