It was a game of two halves in the McGrath Oil under-21 A football championship at Bansha on Saturday last, Arravale came through with nine points to spare on a scorelien of 2-13 to 0-10.
In the 1st half Arravale had their chances but it was Cashel who took theirs. Cashel led by 5 points at half time, on a scoreline of 0-7 to 0-2, but it could have been a different story had Arravale coverted their goal chances-Cashel having their goalkeeper to thank for two great saves. The only scorer for Arravale in the 1st half was Michael O’Dwyer who scored both Arravale points.
The second half would be a completely different affair. Arravale stepped up their game completely and slowly ate into the Cashel lead point after point. Points from Killian Ryan, Daniel Fowler, and two Michael O’Dwyer frees saw the Cashels lead reduced to the minimum.
Then in the space of a few minutes Arravale turned the game on its head. The 1st goal came from a mis-kick out from the Cashel goalkeeper which was caught by Bryan Lowry who passed to his brother Darren who kicked the ball to the net. The second goal was worked in from midfield from Michael Frawley to Darren Lowry who paid back the compliment to his brother Bryan who slotted to the net. Michael O’Dwyer add a further point to put 6 points between the teams. With three points in a row from Cashel they brought back the margin to three but in the final seven minutes, Arravale Rovers sealed the victory with six unanswered points three from B Lowry, two from Johnny Lowry and one from Darren Lowry.
