NENAGH Town Council will convene a meeting as soon as is practicable with North Tipperary VEC and Nenagh Vocational School with the stated purpose of advancing a project which could see the development of an all-weather pitch adjacent to Nenagh Vocational School.
The motion was raised at the November meeting of Nenagh Town Council by Fine Gael’s Conor Delaney.
Sinn Féin’s Cllr Séamus Morris revealed that “development levies had been put aside for a project like this” before Mayor Lalor McGee (Labour) argued that “we have already made commitments to complete a town park”.
“We need to finish one project before we can start another one,” Cllr McGee argued.
“This won’t affect the Town Park,” Cllr Séamus Morris said. “We can’t rest on our laurels. The VEC are willing to share it with the community and we should explore it.”
Town Manager Mr Marcus O’Connor warned that there were issues in terms of how such a facility would be managed before indicating that there “would be a lot of work to get this (all-weather pitch project) over the line”.
