Locals were treated to some fine summer entertainment with a cookery demonstration by Ireland AM TV3’s very own top cook Edward Hayden.

Over 150 people packed into the Racket Hall’s main function room, to have their taste buds delighted, and to sample the huge range of local fresh produce on display. Well over E1,000 was raised from the E10 entry tickets - with all proceeds going to Pieta House Roscrea.

On top of the delicious food, there were free gift vouchers, a free entry into the prize draw, and excellent raffle prizes won on the night.

Organiser Vicki Howell said everybody had a great time. “Stapleton Bakeries kindly donated free gifts to give to the people who arrived. Quigley Bakeries in Roscrea donated a free hot beverage and Avonmore donated a book of vouchers. It was a lovely evening.”

Edward picked eight recipes he designed himself.

The TV Chef brought people through the methods of cooking each dish, with the event televised onto a screen at the back of the function room. A wide selection of local produce from numerous artisan food producers were available on the night.

“People wander around, they have a little taste. Edward generally tries to incorporate the Irish food produce into the recipes he’s cooking that particular evening. And everybody goes home with a recipe book so they can try it at home afterwards,” says Vicki.
