Longford’s Rose of Tralee escort, James Duignan will hold a fundraising event on behalf of one of the festival’s beneficiaries 1 Life - an organisation that provides support and intervention to young people who feel suicidal – on August 13 next in Longford town.
“The festival supports 1 Life and all the escorts will be running a fuindraiser to raise funds for the organisation,” said James. “The roses and escorts are similar in age to the young people that avail of the services of 1 Life, so it helps to make all of us more aware of suicide and the difficulties facing young people.”
The fundraiser – a game show night - will take place at the Longford Arms Hotel on August 13 at 8pm. “Popular games like Blind Date and Mr & Mrs will take place aand there will be some familiar faces from around the county involved on the night as well,” James explained. “We hope to raise some much needed money and awareness for a cause that doesn’t get enough attention in this country.”
There will be spot prizes on the night and a raffle, with some great prizes to be won. Admission €10 and attendees can pay at the door on the night, or purchase tickets at the Tally Ho Bar, New Street, Longford Town or from members of the Longford Rose of Tralee Committee.
James is heading to Tralee on August 17, where he will represent Co Longford on the international stage. “I can’t wait now for the festival to begin,” he said. “I was delighted to be selected. It is a great honour to represent Longford on the international stage and I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Longford Rose Committee for all their help.”
All proceeds from the fundraier will be donated to 1 Life and your support would be very much appreciated by James. For further details comtact James on (086) 8883042 or Grainne Fox, Chairperson, Longford Rose of Tralee on (087) 6402620.
